fear is a tough one. isn’t it?
i recently listened to a really interesting sermon by my church — newspring. wow, do you need to listen to it… no matter who you are… sometimes we feel like our fears are illegitimate. but they aren’t. nothing is too small for God’s eyes and sometimes we don’t realize that. i pulled the quote above out of clayton king’s text. its amazing how sometimes you just need to listen to something… and God just shows you exactly how to overcome whatever that obstacle may be. here’s the truth: nothing is impossible with God. he’s always there, ready and waiting for you to talk to him.

why do I write on this topic today? i got a phone call yesterday, that could completely change my workflow, schedule, the people i know and work with, and quite frankly everything. as i told one of my friends about it, he said … “have you prayed about it?” my answer was no, i didn’t think, i just answered. was this what i should have done? nope. [queen of yes] decided to just shoot. but backup, i listened to this sermon, and prayed. prayed that if it was meant for me, His way would be known.  so does this apply to you? maybe. but maybe not right now.  maybe you’re going through something you don’t know how to get out of. maybe you don’t understand. maybe some series of events are happening that is just confusing you. maybe you just took your first breath of fresh air … you just got back on top. no matter what, praise Jesus.  if you put your faith first, you won’t have fear. you’ll punch it in the face.

swooning: the artist paints the most beautiful whimsical dainty paintings… and combines such awesome textures with them. when her shop opens back up i’ll be finding a girlie print for myself

this sweet couple was such an amazing duo to photograph. not that i want my job to be easier, but seriously? this isn’t work for me.

we got to hang out at our old church, with lots of smiles and laughter until we were crying. the lake was beautiful, the breeze was perfect. these two are perfect for each other – they definitely make each other complete.  we just wont talk about that crazy water moccasin that we say and bolted away from… won’t forget that one! can’t wait to capture katy in her sweet white dress in a few months – for now enjoy their love!

so, just wanted to share this PRESH session with you – two boys – and lots of cute smiles.  i had so much fun photographing these cute little faces.  more to come after the grandparents get photos for mothers day!

today, march 26th would have been my grandma’s 81st birthday.

today is gorgeous. its sunny, and i start to smell spring. its still a bit chilly, but spring like, just how grandma loved.

grandma loved to watch me dance. she loved to dance herself. she was a fantastic and devoted square dancer, even after she lost her partner 6 years ago – my grandpa.

grandma always loved flowers, tulips, color, and pretty smells of spring.  she loved my decorations and my hydrangeas at my wedding, hung on the cross. she gave me a gorgeous hydrangea plant for christmas this past year, and i’m thankful for that. she remembered it was my favorite from my wedding.  grandma is now with the angels now, smelling sweet smells of flowers, spring, the crisp air, and square dancing with grandpa – what my brother and i did with them growing up.  she’s happy now, not suffering from cancer, or allergies or any health related problems.  i’m so thankful to have known such a sweet, southern lady.  happy birthday dear grandma

i know.

its been a really long time since i’ve posted. BUT. things are changing around here. for the GOOD. GODS GOOD.

i’m so thankful to be experiencing the life that i am.

let me back up for a while.

in our household, everything was always so fast-paced.  i’ve always been that designer/photographer that gets projects done ASAP. if an email came in, i responded sometimes within seconds. projects, within minutes. it was always about how much i could do in a day = my productivity level. how many people i could call back, answer emails to, how much i could clean, spend time with my husband… list just goes on. i wanted to be the best and most efficiant designer/photographer/artist i could.  but then as hard as i tried, something always slipped my mind. i was doing too much. everybody was telling me that, i just never realized it on my own until my life and health spun out of control. i got migranes, a lot of them. became sick, got mono. more headaches. more sleepless nights.

something had to change. i couldn’t pin it but i felt like i had to start somewhere.  << back up — i’m trying to be as savvy as i can with technology.  but when it comes to planning, you simply just can’t. >> i got a covey.  this one, actually. i’m in love yall. and i couldn’t do life without this crazy thing now!  hurry. and go get one

then… i started really focus on reading some new blogs and enjoying my time even more instead of rushing. rushing has really put a damper on my mind. it scatters everything and confuses you. it makes you not in the moment and really pushes you to the next moment, instead of enjoying where you are. in the now.

then, a friend of mine and i were talking about living in the now. how we need to. how God wants us to. he wants us to have JOY now. PEACE now. why rush through to the next thing… wait… what just happened?  case in point.

then, i started reading this book. thoroughly enjoying it. explains how life tends to pass us by with new technology and life as designers. then, i read this post.  << not to mention, her blog is wonderful. lovely photos and really insightful posts, especially in her be free, lace series. >>

then it hit me.  i have to live in the now.

my simplicity goals include:

1. dont’ immediately pick up my phone when it goes off.
2. i don’t always have to be available.
3. i don’t have to say yes to anybody unless its ok with me. // no feels better sometimes. YOU are the only one looking out for YOU.
4. be IN the moment.
5. no phone until after i’ve had my coffee. << got in a bad habit of picking up my phone as soon as i woke. would check all emails & instagram and facebook. – bad habit. then – it stressed me out about all of the work i had to do and began the stress load before i got out of bed! how crazy! we aren’t meant to be like this. >> – modified – Bible Study is ok in bed, but nothing else until that is done and i’m out of bed.
6. only use my phone when i need it. WHAT? how hard is that.
7. work for those who really fit my niche/style.  this is a hard one guys. lots more to come on this topic …. soon!

now that i’ve got these out in the open, i’m happy to feel like my life is becoming much more simple. i enjoy it. i feel better… and i’m headache free for 17 days! wahoo!

but anyways, we’re happy to share some progress with our cool new client: Poppingtons Popcorn in Greenville, SC.

image to impact worked with their current branding, to create a new brand that was more upscale, color appropriate, and easier to read.  we came up with the new logo design, refined Mr. Poppington, and worked with printers to create new packaging and label designs in house.

their new website has been launched and we are happy to say that Image to Impact’s photography is the feature here
